Yet another early Jim Carrey vehicle is getting a sequel -- without Jim Carrey. According to The Hollywood Reporter, production company Morgan Creek has hired writers to pen another Ace Ventura film.
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994) and Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995) helped put Jim Carrey on the map as a superstar. They made $107 million and $212 million respectively at the U.S. box office.
The new film, not yet given a title, is apparently going to focus on Ace's son who takes over the family business. No word on a production start date for the project.
Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd and Son of the Mask were both follow-ups to Jim Carrey films which did not star Jim Carrey. Both were critical and financial disappointments.
