You might remember back during Comic Con, we reported that James Cameron announced something called "Avatar Day" for his new film that is coming out later this year. Well, now we're starting to get more details on this unique event.
On Friday, August 21, there will be two free screenings of the 15 minutes of Avatar footage with a special introduction from Jim himself at 6:00pm and 6:30pm (I assume local time) in about 70 participating IMAX 3D theaters. The tickets are free, but you have to secure your tickets ahead of time by going to avatarmovie.com on Monday, August 17 starting at 3pm Eastern.
The free tickets will be distributed on a first come, first served basis so get those mouse fingers ready. There are no further details yet, but it's expected that there will be a limit on the number of tickets per person.
What do you think of this new way to market a movie? Will you be trying to get tickets?
