A young tomboy clashes with her grieving mom after the death of her mother. She resists her mother's attempts to make her more feminine even as she is becoming noticed by a young man in a small-town farm community.
As her only outlet, she picks on a retarded boy but after an accident nearly kills him, she realizes that it's time to grow up and amends with her mother.
Rated PG-13 for thematic elements and some violent content.
