After winning an Oscar in 1994 for Philadelphia, superstar Tom Hanks is taking on yet another homosexual role for his next project.

The movie, still unnamed, will make the Cast Away star a homicide detective, who happens to be homosexual, and is called to a crime scene on night to find his partner is the murder victim. The movie is set in Pittsburgh during the 1960's, long before the "alternative lifestyle" was so openly discussed.

Not only does this project star Tom Hanks, but it is being written by Alan Ball, who also took home a gold statue last year from the Oscar's for his screenplay, American Beauty. Maybe this is the perfect mix: Tom Hanks, Alan Ball, a city that starts with a "P",homosexuality and death. Happy elements, don't you think?
