'Goldmember' To Shag Again?

A new industry rumor this week claims that New Line and MGM are busy working on an 11th hour agreement that would allow New Line to use its intended title Austin Powers In Goldmember for its third offering in the Austin Powers franchise.

Earlier this year, the MPAA ruled on MGM's behalf that New Line could not use the title because of its blatant spoof on MGM's James Bond adventure Goldfinger. Now, the two sides are trying to work out an arrangement for the original title to stand.

Apparently, the agreement will include free trailer placement. Ironically, MGM wants to include a trailer for its new James Bond movie, Die Another Day, to be included on the reels for the new Austin Powers movie and any remaining copies of The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring, New Line's largest releases this year.
