Miramax Films will delay releasing Gangs Of New York for a second time and it may not even hit the screens then.

Gangs, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Cameron Diaz, puts the violence of pre-Civil War New York on the screen and sheds a not-so-nice light on policemen and New Yorkers. It was originally scheduled for a December 2001 release, but after the tragedy in New York City, film makers decided the content might be more than disturbing to audiences.

A re-scheduled release for July 2002 isn't going to happen either. This delay stems from differences between the director Martin Scorsese and Miramax co-chairman Weinstein. The two men deny those claims and say they work together "terrifically."

So, December 2002 is the tentative release but new conflicts with Dreamworks are brewing as they already scheduled the December 25th release of Catch Me If You Can, also starring Leo.

It will eventually get to a theater near you. Any two hour and forty minute movie $20 million over budget is sure to get a release date.
