You know you've made it as a pop princess when Hollywood starts knocking down your door. But unlike Britney and Mandy, Hollywood isn't beckoning Avril with acting gigs.

Instead, they want the rights to her song Sk8er Boi so they can option it into a feature-length movie. The song, which has become something of a teen anthem over the past year, follows the story of a girl that rejects a skater boy because her friends don't approve of him, only to have regrets when years later he becomes a huge rock star.

Paramount secured the song for its studio-based MTV Productions and hopes to stay true to the song by presenting two teens from differing backgrounds that have to overcome societal pressure to survive as a couple. The writing team that helped Lavigne pen the song have been brought on board as consultants and plan to create an event album around the movie.

It is not immediately clear how, if at all, Lavigne will be associated to the movie or the soundtrack.
