Jessica puts on her Daisy 'Dukes'

Move over Britney, this time Jessica Simpson is taking the limelight. Various sources are confirming that the world's most famous 'Newlywed' has secured the rights to wear revealing tops and short shorts in next year's The Dukes of Hazzard, a big screen adaptation of the TV show.

The coveted role of Daisy Duke, who ushered in an entire fashion wave in the 1980s when actress Catherine Bach (who played Daisy in the campy TV show) decided to cut her shorts really short, has been the dream of many young Hollywood starlets. This victory is especially sweet for Simpson given that the alleged front-runner for the role was her nemesis Britney Spears. Jessica lost out to Britney on a spot in Disney's Mickey Mouse Club when the stars were kids.

The Dukes of Hazzard is scheduled to begin filming this Summer for a release next Summer. The latest word still has Paul Walker and Ashton Kutcher in the lead roles of cousins Bo and Luke Duke.
