While some movies find life after death (at the box office) with their DVD release, Mel Gibson is proving that you can have the best of both worlds with The Passion of the Christ.
In its first day of release The Passion sold 4.1 million copies of its DVD, a staggering record, but hardly a record. Finding Nemo holds the single day record (8 million) for animated films, while Spider-Man is tops (7 million) for live action films.
Of course, that didn't stop Fox from touting it's own tremendous effort. Executives are describing the results as the "top R rated" release as well as the best "non-english" one day performance.
