While the news that James Bond movie has been delayed might not surprise you, the reason behind the move might raise a few eyebrows. MGM announced that it was moving James Bond 21 from November 18, 2005 to an undisclosed date in 2006 because they haven't found the perfect director.
"At the moment it doesn't look like we're going to make our start date just based on the fact that we haven't found a director yet," quipped an MGM spokesperson. While the announcement is intriguing, MGM went on to downplay rumors that the delay was related to their impending sale to Sony or the uncertain status of star Pierce Brosnan.
In somewhat related news this week, Brosnan came out and declared that rumors circulating earlier this year that he had hung up the tuxedo for the last time were blown way out of proportion. But, the studio might not be able to forgive and forget quite that easily.
"Currently he's not under contract to play James Bond," the spokesman remarked about Brosnan. "Once we get a director then I think we can get into casting."
