USA Today has published the first photo from the upcoming Horton Hears a Who animated movie. The movie is being produced by Blue Sky Studios, the same guys who did Ice Age and Robots, for Twentieth Century Fox.

The photo comes on the heels of the recent announcement of Jim Carrey and Steve Carell as voices for the film. Carrey will provide the voice of Horton the elephant and Carell will be the Who-ville mayor, the one shown in the pic.

The movie is based on the beloved children's book by Dr. Seuss, the pen name of Ted Geisel. This is the third film in recent years based on a Dr. Seuss work. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (with Carrey as the lead) and The Cat in the Hat were both live-action films.

"But [Horton] will be all animated, and true to the style of Ted Geisel. I think our [animation] and our artists will transport an audience into this man's imagination in a way that hasn't been done before," the USA Today quoted Fox's animation chief as saying.

The film is expected in theaters on Mar. 14, 2008.
