Cast revealed for 'Revenge of the Nerds' remake

According to Variety, Fox has cast several roles in their upcoming remake of the 1984 comedy Revenge of the Nerds. The film will be released next year on Fox's new youth-targeted Fox Atomic label.

Christopher Marquette has been given the role of head nerd -- presumably the role played by Robert Carradine (Lizzie McGuire's dad for you youngins) in the original. Marquette is perhaps best recognized as Joan's love interest in the Joan of Arcadia TV series.

Laguna Beach babe Kristin Cavalleri has been cast as a sorority girl along with Katie Cassidy (David's daughter).

Also starring will be Dan Byrd and Efren Ramirez (a.k.a. Pedro).

Filming for this "re-imagining" of the original Nerds movie is set to begin this month in Atlanta. Charlie's Angels director McG is producing and Kyle Newman is set to direct. Newman has another nerd-centric movie coming next year, the Star Wars geekfest Fanboys.
