How Many 'Mummy's Is Too Many?

First, there was the sequel. It opened big. Bigger than any other movie ever. Then you have the spin-off. A move so bold that apparently the deal was done after seeing only one day's worth of dailies. Now, you've got another sequel. Where will the madness end?

With the tremendous success of The Mummy Returns last week at the box office, you just knew that there would be more movies. In fact, Universal was so confident about The Rock's dailies that they went ahead with the spin-off The Scorpion King. Now, word out of la-la land is that Universal is planning The Mummy 3 for a potential May 2003 release.

Three Mummy movies in three years? When will we hit our saturation point?
