Make a date with Avatar in 2009

In news comparable (apparently) to Elvis coming out of hiding and announcing a world tour, James Cameron's Avatar has finally decided on a release date. For those of you who like to stand in line, you might want to pack a few extra pairs of underwear.

Cameron's followup to Titanic is going to debut on theaters on Memorial Weekend 2009. Yes, that's over two years away.

Avatar, a return to the Science Fiction genre for Cameron, will also re-team him with Aliens star Sigourney Weaver.

[Editor's note: This isn't Avatar, the animé-inspired animated TV series on Nickleodeon. There is a rumored big screen version of that coming from M. Night Shyamalan.]
