Jason Lee just one of the 'Chipmunks'

Jason Lee has a tremendously successful TV show (My Name Is Earl) and now he's making his mark starring in animated TV shows adapted for the big screen.

Previously, it was announced that Lee would lend his voice as the canine crime fighter Underdog and now Jason Lee has been tapped to play dad to the musical trio known simply as Alvin & The Chipmunks.

Alvin & The Chipmunks will be live action while the titular singing characters will be computer-generated. Hmm, I wonder if that means that Lee will have to shave his trademark mustache, because I don't recall Dave Seville sporting the 'stache.

Underdog hits theaters on August 3rd, while Alvin & The Chipmunks will be released theatrically on December 14th.
