Filmmaker J.J. Abrams was part of Paramount's enormous presentation at Comic-Con on Thursday. The most anticipated talk from Abrams was that of his monster movie coming to theaters in January.

Many hoped the man who reveal the title for this mysterious project known to most on the internet as Cloverfield or by the release date 1-18-08. He did not. He only referred to it as "this movie," according to the MTV Movies Blog. He did promise that the title would be forthcoming.

Abrams talked about the origin of the project. While watching his son looking at Godzilla toys on a trip to Japan, he thought "We [Americans] need a monster movie."

Paramount did unveil the teaser poster for the film. It was very similar to the one that was seen recently on the internet in blurry, spy photos. This official version (below) did not include the "MONSTROUS" heading featured in the early shots.

The heading had some claiming this would be the film's title. Abrams quickly dismissed that rumor during his talk. He said, "You think we'd call it Monstrous? No."

The other big highlight from the Paramount display was the confirmation of Karen Allen in next year's Indiana Jones film. You may remember Allen as Indy's love interest Marion Ravenwood in the first film.

Trekkies will be interested in the studio's talk of the next Star Trek film. The producers (including Abrams as director) confirmed that Heroes actor Zachary Quinto has been cast as the young Spock. Not only that but Leonard Nimoy himself will once again portray Spock in the upcoming film. We can't wait to see how that will work.
