Obscure Comic Book To Find Home On Big Screen

The runaway success of X-Men is reviving great interest in a medium that some people had cast away as being dead, the comics industry. Comic books are coming out of the woodwork with this latest boom in Hollywood interest.

The latest is Cloak And Dagger, an obscure book from the mid-'80s that dwelled on superheroes in the real world. The story follows two runaways, a rich white woman and a street savvy black man who possess completely opposite superpowers of light and darkness, as they battle for the kids on the street everywhere.

Executives are hoping that the gritty urban setting will identify with the key demographic and lead to a box office winfall when the movie is released theatrically in 2003.
