As the Summer season gets into full gear, it's always fun to look ahead to next Summer. One of the tent pole pictures that everyone is excited about is the latest Marvel comic book adaptation The First Avenger: Captain America.

Set to hit theaters on July 22, 2011, the movie is rounding out its cast list, having recently added Hugo Weaving and Tommy Lee Jones to the mix that already has Chris Evans in the titular role and Hayley Atwell as the romantic lead.

And today, it seems that AICN has scored the holy grail, official mock-ups of the costume. The mock-ups include Chris Evans's visage behind the mask and from the looks of it, they are going with a modern take with a retro feel.

Some of the missing elements include the missing wings on the helmet and the lack of stripes on his shirt. Instead, red suspender looking things will form the illusion of stripes. All in all, I'm not the resident comic book geek, that's Tim, but I think the designs look cool and will work well into the universe that Marvel is creating with these movies.

One thing to also consider is that the story for The First Avenger: Captain America is set in the 1940s, so it's quite possible that his costume could change between this movie and The Avengers in 2012.

Check out a comparison of the looks below featuring the latest mockup first and then a more current design from the comic books that is supposed to be the basis for the costume in the movie.

Finally, let us know what you like and don't like about the costume. Also, you can check out more poses and shots over at AICN.
