Mark Wahlberg unleashes his 'Contraband' to unsuspecting world

I hate to say it, but I think Mark Wahlberg's acting career is finally over. Ironically, he has Andy Samberg to thank.

Ever since Samberg parodied Wahlberg in a series of hilarious SNL skits, I can't watch anything starring Mark Wahlberg without immediately thinking, "Say hi to your mother for me."

I know it's wrong, but it's true.

When I queued up the trailer for Contraband which just debuted on Yahoo! Movies, it popped into my head again and again. This would be alright if the movie were a comedy, but sadly it's a straight ahead action film of the type that Wahlberg cut his teeth on.

What's worse is that the supporting cast with Ben Foster and Giovanni Ribisi is amazing and I really want to see this movie. I mean when is the last time that you've seen Kate Beckinsale look this hot when she wasn't wearing a leather jumpsuit?

Sadly, after all of that, I'm still chuckling over "Say hi to your mother for me."

Contraband will be smuggled into theaters on January 13, 2012. What do you think? Can you put aside the "mother" talk and take him seriously again?
