Hartter's Ghostbusters

What if modern hit films were made 30-60 years earlier? Who would be cast? What would the movie posters look like? Those are the questions answered by an artist named Sean Hartter in his series of Alternate Universe Movie Posters. (Editor's Note: See correction at bottom. The following belong to Peter Stults.)

Not only are the designs impeccable but the retro casting of current movies is simply brilliant. Check out his poster for The Hangover. Everything about it is perfect. I can totally see Jack Lemmon in Ed Helms' character. And Jerry Lewis as Zach Galifianakis' Allan? Superb.

Then you've got an inspired selection like Die Hard, recast with Leonard Nimoy with artwork that makes it reminiscent of 1974's thriller The Towering Inferno.

We've included more of our favorites below. For the full set, check out Hartter's site. Thanks to the Behance Network via The Daily What for tipping us off to these.

Update: Proper Credit

I need to correct a glaring mistake. It seems Sean Hartter is the originator of this Alternate Universe Movie Poster series. However, the latest entries come to us from designer Peter Stults. He's the talented man responsible for the fabulous creations we've featured here. He did all these with the exception of the Ghostbusters poster at top. Stults was simply inspired by Hartter's previous creations. I sincerely regret the error.

While you're checking out Stults' other great posters, see his excellent Fake Criterions.
