New 'Brave' trailer shoots as straight as an arrow

I've gone on record that I think Brave is nothing more than an animated version of Braveheart. And yes, when you see the first trailer, there are certain obvious similarities.

But this Australian trailer released today sheds a bit more light into the storyline and it's not hard to see the old tried and true Pixar storylines coming to the surface. This "trailer" which is really more like a 2 minute complete scene from the movie itself does a lot more than that.

Personally, I think it shows that Pixar is back after the slight hiccup that was Cars 2. It's not that Pixar had fallen far, but let's just say that their string of home runs was sidetracked by a ground rule double. Here, the story is fresh and the animation is, well, back up to Pixar's incredibly high standards.

With an incredibly packed Summer already, it's hard to speculate exactly how much Brave will do at the box office. But, there's always an animated film or two in the year's top 10 list and Pixar films have traditionally been big earners.

Brave hits theaters on June 15, 2012.
