Time to hit the pitch. No, not that pitch. I guess they call it a court.

In tennis, I don't think there's a more sacred court than Wimbledon. Its grass courts are synonymous with the sport and the old customs of the place are legendary.

So, you have to respect that all of the Olympic tennis matches are taking place on its hallowed courts. That would be akin to Indianapolis hosting the Olympics and playing the basketball games at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Yesterday, Roger Federer played a marathon match that lasted almost four and a half hours before he triumphed over his Argentine opponent. Today, American Serena Williams whipped Maria Sharapova 6-0, 6-1 to breeze her way to the gold medal.

So, in light of these compelling tennis events, it's a no-brainer to do a tennis film category, right? Well, that's easier said than done. You see, there's really not that many tennis films. Gee, I can't figure out why.

But in the end, I was able to scare up at least three films to complete the podium.

BRONZE

I'm pretty sure that Nobody's Perfect is the low-point of Chad Lowe's career. He dons a wig and becomes a standout female tennis player on his school's team.

I could go on about this "gem," but I've already forgotten about it.

SILVER

Tennis is really just the backdrop for Woody Allen in Match Point. The real story naturally is love, affairs and more affairs. I have to say that there's at least more realistic tennis than the bronze medal film, but not much.

The film is pretty good though and it's good enough for the silver.

GOLD

Wimbledon is really THE tennis film. It actually feature tennis and tells a pretty convincing story as well.

Throw in that the film's set is the stage for the Olympics, well it's a match made in Wimbledon.

The updated medal count shows that the standings are starting to tighten up just a bit and MGM is showing its gold medal dominance.

Make sure you come back tomorrow when we celebrate the underdog.
