Yesterday saw the preliminary routines of the team synchronized swimming competition at the London Olympics. Now, let's be real, synchronized swimming is a bizarre sport.

I guess it's part gymnastics and part swimming, but it's 100% creepy. And what's with water sports with their synchronized swimming and diving events? That's umm, just plain weird.

Anyhow, I've always thought that the synchronized events were like mirror-images of the competitors. What better way to be synchronized than to have twins compete.

Or is that just too meta? Have any sets of twins competed in synchronized events at the Olympics?

Probably, but I don't want to do the research. There's more important things to do, such as naming the medal winners in our favorite movies with twins in them.

BRONZE

When your movie is called Twins you know that you're going to immediately garner some serious interest in the twins category. Interestingly enough, the two actors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito couldn't be any less alike.

But that's the brilliance of this comic gem. It plays against conventional wisdom and leaves us in hysterics.

SILVER

The Winklevoss twins in The Social Network were the best non-baddie bad guys that have shown up in film recently. They aren't entirely bad in so much as they are rich brats with an overinflated sense of entitlement.

The fact that they were Olympic athletes themselves, competing in the 2008 Summer games in Beijing, only underscores why they deserve the silver medal.

GOLD

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I know you will) but I'm pretty sure there's no real mention Luke and Leia being twins in the original Star Wars trilogy. Sure, there's plenty of talk about them being brother and sister, especially in Return of the Jedi, but I think the whole twin story was a MacGuffin created by George Lucas to make his prequels work.

Regardless if they know their twins in the original trilogy or not, they deserve the gold medal. Hell, they didn't even know they were related until Jedi and kissed a couple of times to drive Han Solo crazy.

There's a three-way tie for first heading into the final stretch of these games.

Make sure you come back tomorrow when we prove that two is better than one.
