Tim and I were talking this morning about Fox's marketing recently and how they are just knocking it out the park with their whole JFK and X-Men campaign and the recently unveiled campaign for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Both campaigns go beyond the film to try and completely immerse you into the world of the film.

For Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, you can find out more at DawnofApes.com. In addition to the teaser trailer for the film (which we've included below, the site does a pretty decent job in chronicling the last decade that has passed since the events in the first film.

One of the most devastating things to occur was the spread of the Simian Flu. The official YouTube channel that released the teaser also released a video that leads to this site: SimianFlu.com. Needless to say, the trailer and the websites paint a pretty bleak picture when it comes to humanity's future.

We know that we spent a great deal of time trying to defend ourselves from the outbreak and then each other before finally realizing that the real threat to human survival on this planet is that posed by the genetically-altered apes that now live among us. The other thing we know is that this trailer is dark which pretty much guarantees that the film will also be dark which I've always really wanted to see in a Planet of the Apes film.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is set to hit theaters on July 18, 2014.
