Meh, first 'Peanuts' trailer is so-so

I think we are planning to talk about this trailer on this week's podcast, so what follows will be something akin to a tease. You know, like this trailer is a teaser for the full-length trailer expected sometime next Summer and the eventual film a year from now.

A teaser usually isn't something that I give a rat's backside about. Or shall I say, a teaser trailer isn't something that I get all riled up about because few are actually good and even less are indicative of the quality of the feature film itself. However, the Peanuts trailer is something entirely different.

This film will represent the first time that we see Charlie Brown and his gang in 3D and computer-generated. That's a big change, akin to seeing your favorite actor or actress in color for the first time when Hollywood ditched the black and white standard of all.

So, like the transition to color, will Peanuts be a success that will immediately make the comics and specials that we grew up on look archaic in comparison, or will it be a bastardization that will threaten to destroy the empire that Snoopy built? Well, I won't give away my opinion completely here, but I will say that the jury is still out on the film.
