Will I make it? I mean, I had good intentions to have this news story queued up on Friday waiting for the 4th, but Murphy's law and all that.

So, here I sit with about 40 minutes until the 5th, typing away to make this deadline. The question remains, will I make it? I'm not sure, let's see, shall we?

  • The biggest story of the last 30 days has to be the reveal of the title for Episode VIII. The next installment in the Skywalker franchise will be called Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The first teaser poster was also released and you can see it to the right.

The title is certainly open to interpretation. We all know that the Jedi is both the singular and plural version of the word, so does the title refer to Luke alone or Luke and Rey? The opening crawl for The Force Awakens literally refers to Luke Skywalker as The Last Jedi, so perhaps the title is more straight forward than first thought. I guess we'll find out in December.

  • In case you were wondering whether the Star Wars machine was up and running, director Chris Miller checked in on Twitter to reassure us that it is. Disney plans to have a new Star Wars movie every year until the end of time and that means that there will always be a film in production.

Director Chris Miller tweeted that "Han. First. Shot." The punny take on the popular refrain of Han Shot First signified that Star Wars: Han Solo has begun shooting. Alden Ehrenreich is playing the titular character, while Donald Glover will take up the role of Lando Calrissian.

  • We mentioned that The Last Jedi is the title to the next Star Wars film, but we're not the only ones with questions about the title. Josh Gad is currently shooting Murder on the Orient Express with Star Wars star Daisy Ridley and he tried to get her to spill the beans on the title.

  • Speaking of Star Wars: Han Solo, with production getting started, it only makes sense that some casting news will start to pop up. This one is a bit interesting, to say the least.

Woody Harrelson has been cast to play Han Solo's mentor Garris Shrike. The character is indeed interesting and Woody should do it justice.

  • We don't know much officially about the home entertainment release of Rogue One, but footage is starting to leak that might point to deleted scenes ending up on the Blu-ray or DVD.

With reshoots and multiple endings, there is plenty of footage out there, the question remains, though, just how much we will get on the upcoming Blu-ray. And don't worry, it's coming... soonish. I've seen the DVD and Blu-ray art and it's pretty awesome.

  • It seems that petitions are all the rage these days, so it's only fitting that with Carrie Fisher's passing that fans want Disney to recognize Princess Leia as an official Disney Princesss.

If you agree, you can sign the petition here.

  • Finally today, if you watched Rogue One and wondered why Wedge Antilles didn't make a cameo appearance, it turns out that there's a pretty good explantion for that. You can read about it here on /Film.

Also, it turns out that he might have had a sly cameo after all...

  • That's all for this month. And I just made it. Right under the wife. Phew.
