As 'Friends' filming came to an end, NBC and Warner Bros. decided to make it extra special, not only for the cast and crew, but for 150 survivors of the World Trade Center attacks as well.
The studio invited the survivors to a three-day expense paid trip to Los Angeles to sit in the audience and watch their favorite stars act out one last time.
The most heart-wrenching part of the story is that crew members agreed on the producers to spend the money set aside for crew holiday gifts to pay for the trips. Once the studio and network caught wind of the generosity, they decided to pay and give the crew their gifts too.
