E.G. Marshall, winner of two Emmys for his role as Lawrence Preston in the 1960s TV series "The Defenders," returns in The Defenders: Payback. Beau Bridges ("Masters of Sex," "Brothers & Sisters") and Martha Plimpton ("The Good Wife," "Raising Hope") join Marshall, as a father-son-and-granddaughter team of lawyers set to defend a man (John Laroquette) who is accused of murdering his daughter's rapist. The Defenders: Payback, which aired on Showtime in 1997, is the first of three made-for-cable movies based on the landmark series. Beginning in 1961 and through its four year run on CBS, "The Defenders" earned 19 Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, taking the top spot 15 times for Writing, Directing, Lead Actor, Drama and Editing, among other categories.
