Formed in 1968, by the early seventies Led Zeppelin were being tagged "best band in the world", and when 'Stairway to Heaven', from the redoubtable LZ IV hit the decks and the airwaves that November, many doubted they could reach any higher. But by 1974 the band were recording their magnum opus, in the shape of Physical Graffiti, an album which, when finally released the following year, was to become among the most ambitious, extraordinary and influential rock albums ever. This film investigates and documents the build-up, development and recording of Physical Graffiti, and the promotion, touring and initial impact of the record, during which Led Zeppelin didn't just become the most important band on the planet, but equally constructed a completely new framework for rock music which has benefited the form ever since. Featuring new and archive interviews, rare footage, fresh revelations, newly discovered material and a host of other features, which together provide for one of the finest Led Zeppelin films yet to emerge.
