'Revenge of the Jedi' teaser trailer is meh

Well, today's release of Return of the Jedi's teaser trailer completes the trilogy of teasers from the first three Star Wars films. I'll be honest, I wasn't all that impressed.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the trailer was the inclusion of the original title of the film, Revenge of the Jedi. This title was used pretty much up until the last minute before release, when George Lucas had a change of heart and figured that Jedi wouldn't ever have revenge in their heart. And so, the title was changed and the rest is history.

I'll tell you what should have stayed in history and that's this trailer. It just didn't much of anything for me and worst yet, it contains so many spoilers for the time. If you recall at the end of The Empire Strikes Back, Han Solo is frozen in Carbonite, but here he is all back to his normal form.

Of course, that wouldn't have taken a rocket scientist to figure out that Han wouldn't have been frozen long, but still. You also get fleeting glances of the ewoks which are really the start of the downfall for me that culminates in the new prequels. Speaking of more movies, you'll notice that the voice over never says the concluding chapter, just the "further adventures" and "next chapter." I think it's safe to say that more films have always been planned, it just took us about 30 years to deliver on that promise.

If you want to see the teasers from the first two films, click here. I was sort of holding out hope that at the end of these teasers we'd get a teaser from Episode VII, but with yesterday's revelation that Michael Arndt is out as writer and J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan are in, that seems like a long shot now.

Oh well, I'm sure we'll get more information soon.
