According to Wikipedia, Star Wars Day (aka May the 4th) was first celebrated in 2011, but it seems like its origins date back even further. No matter when it really did come into existence, this is the first time where we can celebrate Star Wars Day in the same year that a new film will be released.
In other words, this is like having Christmas right after your birthday, and we all get gifts. The biggest of the gifts this year comes via Vanity Fair which is releasing a cover story on the new film this week and they leaked their cover and some great new content today. I must caution you that if you want to stay spoiler free, turn back now.
It's still hard to imagine that we will have three Star Wars films in the next 24 months, so I can only believe that this "holiday" will only get bigger as the new films get released and a whole new generation gets hooked. We also got in on the fun this year by recording a very special episode of our podcast. Listen as we geek out and reminisce on our own memories from the old days.

Vanity Fair has the new cast of The Force Awakens on their cover this week.
This article features pictures taken by Annie Leibovitz and reveals more about the highly anticipated film than both trailers put together. J.J. Abrams had me at Jar Jar's bones. The teaser is well worth the read and there are pictures and videos to boot.

Mad Magazine couldn't help themselves so they deconstructed the Vanity Fair cover.
